After a distinguished coaching career at Hempfield High School, Doug Bailey joined the Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse staff as an assistant coach in the fall of 2010.
Bailey, a graduate of Elizabethtown Area High School, won 260 games in 16 seasons at Hempfield, including 11 league and eight district championships. He was the Lancaster-Lebanon League Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2009, and was named District Coach of the Year in 2003.

Prior to assuming the coaching duties at Hempfield in the fall of 1993, Bailey was head coach at Kutztown University from 1988 to 1990 and was an assistant coach at Franklin & Marshall College for five years in the mid-1980's. Bailey began his coaching career as an assistant coach and strength training coach at Penn State in 1982, after playing midfield for the Nittany Lions as an undergraduate.
Bailey has served as the regional lacrosse coordinator for the Blue Mountain team in the Keystone Games since 2001, and led the U19 Boys to gold medals in 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011. He also guided the U15 Boys team to Keystone Games gold in 2008. Bailey has been responsible for the organization and management of the Blue Mountain travel team since 2004 as part of Spectator Sports Management.

This past summer Bailey worked with U.S. Lacrosse, coaching Team Spirit to an 8-6 victory in the 2011 Champion All-American Showcase. The event was held at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Outside lacrosse, Bailey has been employed by the Manheim Township School District since 1997 in a variety of administrative roles, currently as the K-12 Health & Physical Education Program Coordinator/Consultant. He is a 1982 graduate of Penn State with a bachelor of science degree in health and physical education, and earned a master's degree in educational administration from Temple University in 1992 and elementary principal certification in 1993.
