Maria Anderson '18 is in her first season as the Associate Head Coach of Cross Country and Track & Field in 2023-24. Overall, this is her fifth season serving both the XC and T&F programs as an assistant coach.
Prior to joining the staff at her alma mater, Anderson was an accomplished cross country and distance runner on the track & field team. She was a four-time All-Landmark Conference performer in XC, including the 2014 Landmark Conference WXC Rookie of the Year. Anderson was a part of four team championships for the Blue Jays.
Anderson became only the fourth student-athlete in cross country program history to compete at the NCAA Div. III Championships all four years. She was also a two-time All-Mideast Region performer for Etown under head coach Brian Falk.
On the track, Anderson won the 2018 gold medal in the steeplechase on her own track at the Landmark Outdoor Championships and ranks second all-time in the steeple as only one of two females to run sub-11:00 in the event. She also ran the Elizabethtown facility record in winning the gold.
Anderson was a five-time all-conference honoree in track & field and an All-Mideast Region selection in the steeple in 2018.
Academically, Anderson was on the Landmark's Fall (XC), Winter (T&F), and Spring (T&F) Honor Rolls each year of eligibility and named to the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-District 4 First Team.
A fine arts major at Elizabethtown, Anderson graduated in May 2018 and by the fall, was an assistant under Falk. Etown went on to win a pair of cross country titles on both the men's and women's sides in 2018 and 2019. She has also coached a number of all-conference and all-region athletes during her tenure.
Anderson taught elementary and high school art at Penn Manor School District from 2018 to 2023 and earned her master's in art education in 2022 from Millersville University.
She is an A.C.E. certified personal trainer and has her USATF Level 1 Certification while also working on her USATF Level 2 in endurance.
