Former player and 2007 Elizabethtown College alum
Bob Pyrz completed his third season as head coach of the golf team in 2012-13.
Pyrz guided the Blue Jays to a Commonwealth Conference Championship in the spring of 2011, his first season as head coach. With All-Commonwealth Conference First Team members Dan Senkler (2nd), Nick Iacono (3rd) and Geoff Quinque (4th) leading the way, Elizabethtown earned the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Championships, where it finished tied for 35th.
Though Pyrz lost the core of his roster from that title team to graduation prior to his second season, the 2011-12 Blue Jays, with freshman Ryan Laudeman finishing an all-conference Second Team ninth, took fourth at the Commonwealth Championships. E-town was sixth in 2013, as Laudeman once again earned all-league honors by placing sixth.
Elizabethtown has 13 top five team finishes in tournaments under Pyrz. Laudeman registered a pair of wins in 2012-13, including the two-day Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational, while Senkler, Iacono and Quinque all won tournaments as seniors in 2010-11 with leadership from Pyrz.
As a student-athlete at Elizabethtown, Pyrz set the program record for the lowest single-season average with a 75.9 over 15 rounds during his senior season of 2006-07. He also remains the only Blue Jay in school history to play a sub-70 round, having shot 69 at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational back in Oct. 2006.
Pyrz, who lives in Telford, graduated from the College in 2007 with an accounting degree. He serves as a manufacturer's representative for family-owned Pyrz Water Supply in Harleysville.
