LANCASTER, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College men's soccer team won the Smith-Herr Boot Game at Franklin & Marshall this afternoon, needing PKs to do it after a 0-0 draw in regulation. The Blue Jays won the trophy, 5-3 in penalties.
The Diplomats held the offensive advantage through 45 minutes, outshooting the Jays 9-1.
Logan Sumner made five first-half saves fro Elizabethtown.
The game was scoreless at the half.
Sumner made a couple more second-half saves and the Jays were able to keep it 0-0 through 90 minutes.
In penalties, Etown outlasted F&M 5-3 to claim the Smith-Herr Boot as all five shooters for EC converted their attempts.
Elizabethtown plays at Messiah on Tuesday, September 15, at 5 p.m.
