Men's and women's track & field each get Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. -- The Elizabethtown College men's and women's track & field teams each had a Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week selected on Tuesday. Josef Book was named the Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week while Isabella Cowger was named the Women's Field Athlete of the Week for a second straight week.

Cowger has demolished the competition along with school and conference records to start the outdoor season. Through two meets, she's set six records in total, three program and three Landmark records between the discus and shot put. At York (Pa.), she won the discus, shot put, and hammer throw. For the second straight meet, Cowger set new school and conference records in the discus. She added a new Etown and Landmark record in the shot put on top of the discus record. All three of her winning marks at the York (Pa.) Twilight Meet were new personal bests.

On the track, Book started off the Twilight Meet with a third-place finish in the 110m hurdles with a new personal best in the event, 15.13, which is second all-time. Later in the meet, he won the 400m hurdles in 53.45, the second-fastest time in program history. Book was previously fifth with his time from the LVC Blue & White Open.

Elizabethtown will have athletes from both teams in action at Messiah and Bucknell this upcoming weekend.
