ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- In a close matchup at the Bowers Center, a late pin from Gettysburg spoiled the Elizabethtown College wrestling team's senior day. The match ended in a 21-21 tie with the Bullets winning on match point criteria.
Deven Jackson and
Corey Cope won via decisions at 125 and 133. Jackson's came on sudden victory, 2-1. Gettysburg piled on points over the next four bouts and took a 15-6 lead going into 174.
Gavin Fehr picked up a big fall for the Blue Jays at 4:28 after falling behind 6-3 in the second period.
Ganon Smith was close to getting a fall at 184 and finished with a tech fall, 20-2, to help Etown back into the lead, 17-15.
Will Davis added bonus points for EC with a 14-1 major decision and Elizabethtown led 21-15 going into the final matchup of the dual.
Simon Taylor recorded a fall with 11 seconds left in the third period that tied the match and then by total match points, 52-48, Gettysburg claimed the win.
Elizabethtown will host Messiah on Friday, February 13, at 7 p.m.
