ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Both seniors contributed to the Elizabethtown College women's soccer team's 7-1 win over Goucher on Senior Day as
Sophie Shadle scored her first career goal and
Sara Bean added an assist in the Blue Jays' win.
Four goals in the first seven minutes gave the Blue Jays a big boost to start Saturday's game.
Meghan McGonagle was the first to score for Elizabethtown as
Chayse Flood and
Linnet Laiser set her up at the far post to make it 1-0.
Almost three minutes later, Laiser had her first of three goals on the day on
Sophia Hogan's assist of an Etown corner. Laiser and Flood combined again to assist on Shadle's goal in the sixth minute. A minute and half later, up 3-0, Laiser had her first-half brace, finishing off a play started by Hogan's corner that was touched on by Bean.
Goucher managed a goal in the 20th minute. Abby Lee's free kick was saved, but Ashley Schwartz crashed the goal and latched onto the loose ball to score and make it 4-1 nearly halfway through the first half.
Kirsten Navich was played down the left side by
Molly Cirone. The junior was able to beat a defender to get into the box and fire a shot high left to increase the lead to 5-1.
Laiser completed her first career hatty in the second half as she scored in the 64th minute and Hogan cracked one that went high and off the inside of the left post and into the net.
Elizabethtown finished the game with nine assists, tied for ninth-most in a single game in program history.
The Blue Jays travel to play Moravian on Wednesday, October 28, at 7 p.m.
