JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- The Elizabethtown College wrestling team began 2026 with a dual win Friday night at New Jersey City. The Blue Jays racked up plenty of points over the final five matches with three tech falls, two falls, and a major decision to win their second dual match of the season, 31-17.
Deven Jackson started off the match with a 17-2 tech fall victory at 125 as Elizabethtown led right away 5-0.
The Gothic Knights took the next few bouts and grabbed a 17-5 lead through 157.
Justice Hockenberry, who went unscored against this past Saturday at Washington & Lee, did not give up a point again as he secured Etown's second technical fall of the match at 165, 15-0.
Gavin Fehr and
Ganon Smith each pinned their opponents at 174 and 184, respectively, to put the Jays in front, 22-17.
Will Davis ended his matchup at 197 a little over five minutes in with a tech fall, 17-2, to put the match in Elizabethtown's favor.
Jimmy Yeingst finished off the night on the mat for EC with a major decision.
The Blue Jays will have the week off before competing in the NY vs. PA duals next Saturday, January 17, at Wilkes University.
