TOWSON, Md. -- Sophomore
Ella Smith was named the Landmark Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday for the Elizabethtown College women's soccer team. It is her first career conference honor.
Smith helped the Blue Jays to a 0-0 draw last Wednesday at Ursinus. She made five saves in the game, including several in the second half to keep it scoreless. It was her second consecutive shutout.
Elizabethtown tied Penn State Berks on Saturday, 1-1, thanks to a late PK goal for the Lions.
Smith has not allowed a goal in the run of play since September 2 and leads the Landmark in goals against average at 0.71. Her save percentage of .864 ranks her second in the league and only one of two keepers with a save percentage over .850.
Smith is the Jays' first Defensive Athlete of the Week since Trinity Soto in November 2021.
