SCRANTON, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team wasn't able to dethrone defending champion Scranton in Saturday's Landmark Conference Championship.
Landon Scully had a team-high two goals in the game.
Down 1-0, Elizabethtown outscored the Royals 3-1 over the rest of the first quarter to grab a 3-2 lead going into the second.
Brent Wehland, Scully, and
Tristan Coleman each scored first-quarter goals for the Jays.
Scranton took control in the second with a 4-0 edge in scoring and led 6-3 at halftime.
Finn Kristan scored the first goal of the third quarter as Etown looked to work its way back. The Royals answered 31 seconds later to restore the three-goal lead, but goals from Scully and
Lucca Scomillio made it a one-goal game. Scomillio scored with four seconds to go in the third, the second straight game the graduate student put home a goal with little time left on the clock.
That would prove to be the last goal for the Jays as Scranton held Elizabethtown scoreless over the final 15 minutes while scoring three of their own to win another Landmark title.
Jay Rodriguez,
Joey Killpatrick, Coleman, and
Jake Woodworth provided assists in the game.
Brayden Franey made 15 saves in goal for the Jays.
