Softball swept by Catholic

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Elizabethtown College softball team was swept by Catholic on Wednesday in Landmark Conference action.

CATHOLIC 8, ELIZABETHTOWN 2
Down two in the fourth, Jess Dunn smacked her first career home run to center field to cut Elizabethtown's deficit in half to 2-1.

Catholic added two more runs in the fourth as they led 4-1. The Cardinals got a grand slam in the fifth to take a commanding 8-1 lead.

Skye Zolomij knocked in Nicole Cecconi in the sixth with an RBI double. Dunn and Zolomij each had two hits apiece in game one.

CATHOLIC 7, ELIZABETHTOWN 6
Sarah Birner, Zolomij, and Dunn had RBI hits in the third inning that gave Etown a 4-2 lead. Dunn's hit was a two-run double and she would go on to be 3-for-4 in game two.

Then, down 6-4, Cecconi scored on an error by Catholic to make it a one-run game, 6-5, in the fourth. 

Maddie Reever delivered a game-tying RBI hit in the fifth to make it 6-6, but the Cardinals got that run back to go ahead by one in the bottom half of the inning.

Catholic held on to get the sweep.

Elizabethtown will play at Lycoming on Saturday, April 5, at 1 and 3 p.m.
