MANHEIM, Pa. -- Senior Corey Cope was named a National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-America late last week for the Elizabethtown College wrestling team.

In order to earn Scholar All-America status, these wrestling student-athlete must meet the following criteria:

• WRESTLING - Must accomplish at least 1 of the 2
  1. Place in top 8 in the regional tournament 
  2. Wrestle at least 15 matches and have a win percentage greater than 66%.
     1. Matches with teammates will count only if they happened in a tournament 
     2. Matches set up between teammates will not count
• ACADEMICS - Must accomplish at least 1 of the 2
  1. Must have an average GPA of 3.2 over the last 2 semesters or quarters or last 3 trimesters
  2. Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2

Cope finished fourth in Region 3 at 133 pounds and went 31-9 on the season including 11-1 in duals and carries a 3.51 GPA.

He is the 16th NWCA Scholar All-America selection for the Blue Jays.
