ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- After a tie game at halftime, Stockton got away from the Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team Wednesday evening at Wolf Field. The Ospreys outscored the Blue Jays by three in the second half to beat Etown by three, 12-9.
Reese Levinson opened up the scoring less than a minute into the game with an unassisted goal, his first of three for the Jays. Elizabethtown and Stockton traded off the first seven goals of the game.
Tristan Coleman and Levinson again rounded out the first-quarter scoring as EC led 3-2 after one.
The Ospreys tied it a few minutes into the second, but less than a minute later,
Jay Rodriguez scored his first of three to put the Blue Jays back in front. Rodriguez and Levinson each finished the night with hat tricks. Coleman then set up
Jake Woodworth to give Etown a two-goal lead at 5-3 with a little over half of the second left to play.
Stockton outscored Elizabethtown 3-1 over the final eight minutes to send the game into the half at 6-6. Levinson completed his first-half hat trick with 7:02 left.
The Ospreys had the final two goals of the first half and the first two goals of the second half and managed to keep the Jays on their heels and unable to gain too much momentum.
Rodriguez's second goal of the game made it 8-7, but Stockton came right back and answered to reestablish the two-goal cushion.
Down three going into the fourth, each side scored once with
Lucca Scomillio sniping a ball just under the crossbar to make it 12-9. Neither side scored the rest of the way as the Ospreys handed Etown the 12-9 defeat in their home opener.
The Blue Jays are back on Wolf Field this Saturday when they take on Franklin & Marshall at 12 p.m.
