Oaster breaks another school record to highlight track & field's day at FastTrack National Invitational

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Kelty Oaster broke her second indoor school record of the season for the Elizabethtown College women's track & field team on Friday at the FastTrack National Invitational hosted at Ocean Breeze. The men's and women's team each had a handful of athletes in action, including Oaster's school record mile time.

Not only did Oaster break the school's 16-year-old record held by Tiffany Kulp (5:02.06), she also won the event full of competitors from all NCAA divisions. Oaster ran 4:55.98, the first Blue Jay female to ever break 5:00 in the mile and the third-fastest mile time recorded by a Landmark Conference female in league history.

Oaster, now in the top five in Division III in the mile with her time, is also just .49 off the school's 800-meter record.

Keely Fitzgerald placed for Etown in the 5,000-meter with her run of 19:18.68. She was seventh overall.

Daniel Myers was the top performer for the men. He ran 8:36.01 in the 3,000-meter and moved from sixth to fourth on the program's all-time list.

The rest of the men's and women's teams are in action tomorrow at the Blue & White Invitational at Franklin & Marshall, beginning at 9 a.m.
