ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College wrestling team had five weight class champions and 14 total place finishers on Saturday to win the Blue Jay Classic with 181.5 points.
Winning their weight classes were
Corey Cope at 133,
Justice Hockenberry at 165,
Ganon Smith at 184,
Will Davis at 197, and
Sav Niewiadomy at 285. It's the third time this season Smith and Niewiadomy have been first-place finishers for the Blue Jays. Davis' victory in the 197-pound first-place match was his 100th career win.Â
Deven Jackson was the runner-up at 125 as was
Gavin Wagner at 197.
Febian Dawit took third at 133.
Paul Sanderson (165) and
Gavin Fehr (174) each finished fourth for Etown.
Taking fifth was
Stephen Bialek at 149. In sixth was
Roman Polcha at 125,
Aidan Hines at 157, and
Ethan Bliss at 165.
This was the first tournament Elizabethtown has won this season. The Jays were second at the Scotty Wood Invitiational on Nov. 22.
Etown will compete at the Jim Crytzer Invitational at Washington & Lee on Saturday, Jan. 3.
