Kendig, Inglis finish in all-region position for men's cross country

NEWVILLE, Pa. -- Juniors Derek Kendig and Will Inglis each earned all-region honors for the Elizabethtown College men's cross country team on Saturday at the NCAA Div. III Mid-Atlantic Regional held at Big Spring High School. The Blue Jays totaled 289 points and placed ninth as a team.

Kendig and Inglis came through the 1.6K point inside the top 50, but still with some work to do to put themselves into that top-35, all-region position. Kendig was able to do that over the next 1.4K, hitting the 3,000-meter mark in 28th, up 16 spots in the field. Inglis bypassed seven runners to get into 39th by 3K.

By 5K, the duo were safely inside the top 35 runners and continued to move up in the race. Kendig would place 13th overall in 25:41.23 and Inglis was 19th in 25:46.13. They are the first pair of all-region teammates since Nick Garrett and Christian Schaaf in 2021, both of which were also top-20 place finishers for Elizabethtown.

Marty Ratchford, coming off his first all-conference honor two weekends ago, was next in 68th. Ethan Wence took 92nd and Frank Conte was 105th for the Jays.
