GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College wrestling team began 2025 with a win as they beat Gettysburg 22-16 at Bream Gymnasium. Corey Cope and Will Davis each recorded tech fall victories for the Blue Jays.

Braden Schuyler and Cope put Elizabethtown ahead 8-0 after the first two matches of the dual, but the Bullets came right back with eight points over the following two bouts to tie Friday night's match at 8-8.

Michael Beers, a recent transfer for Etown from Delaware Valley, earned his first win in a Blue Jays' singlet with a comeback decision at 157. Down 6-5 with just over a minute in the third, Beers got the takedown and went on to win.

Down 12-11 after 165, Elizabethtown won three of the final four, including Davis' tech fall at 197 to seal the match for the Jays.

Etown will take part in the Virginia Duals coming up next Friday and Saturday in Salem, Va.
