Alumni get better of men's cross country

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The alumni took five of the first six spots and got the better of the Elizabethtown College men's cross country team on Saturday at the annual Blue Jay Alumni Challenge. Christian Schaaf won the race for the alumni while Carson Wiley was the top finisher for the Blue Jays.

Schaaf won the race by nearly a minute as he crossed in 13:48.6. Recent graduates, Brandon Baxter and Matt Fick, were the next two finisher as the alums went 1-2-3. 

Wiley placed fourth for the Jays in 14:43.6. Devon Soto, fifth, and Christian Gingrich, sixth, were the final two scorers for the alumni squad.

Derek Kendig, Nolan Pettit, Benjamin Ortiz-Jacque, and Will Inglis were seventh through tenth for Etown.

The alumni won, 17-38.

Elizabethtown will next compete at the Paul Short Invitational on Saturday, October 5.
