COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. --Â The Elizabethtown College softball team dropped a pair of games on Thursday at Ursinus. The Bears won game one 15-9 and took game two 5-0.
Skye Zolomij recorded her first career RBIs in game one and
Brooke Huczko hit a pair of triples for the Blue Jays.
Game 1: Ursinus 15, Elizabethtown 9
Elizabethtown put up four runs in the top half of the first to jump ahead early on.
Kassidy Kehoe and
Haley Nedo had RBIs for the Jays.
Sarah Birner and
Skye Zolomij were able to score on a defensive error by the Bears in the inning.
Ursinus wouldn't take long to get their offense going, though. The Bears totaled five in the first and four more in the second. Zolomij drove in
Kristen Aydelotte in the top of the second, which tied the score at 5-5 at the time. UC led 9-5 after two.
Zolomij's second RBI of the game came off another single to score
Brooke Huczko. Birner singled up the middle to bring in Kehoe and then Zolomij scored on a fielder's choice as Etown closed the gap to 11-8 in the fourth.
Ursinus extended the lead to 15-8 in the bottom half. Aydelotte registered an RBI base hit in the fifth to make it 15-9.
Game 2: Ursinus 5, Elizabethtown 0
The Jays were held in check in the second game after nine runs in the first. The Bears limited Etown to just four hits over seven innings. Huczko,
Maddie Reever,
Emily Polimeni and
Jenna Davis each had a hit for EC in game two.
Ursinus led 2-0 after the first. Then, after two scoreless innings, tacked on a run in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Elizabethtown will be right back in action tomorrow, March 22, with a home doubleheader against Juniata at 3 and 5 p.m.
