TOWSON, Md. -- Christian Gingrich was named the Landmark Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Senior Scholar Athlete on Thursday. He becomes the fourth student-athlete for the Elizabethtown College men's track & field program to earn the indoor honor.
Gingrich was a double medalist at the 2023 Landmark Indoor Championships for Elizabethtown. As a junior, he won the 5,000-meter run and took bronze in the 3,000-meter run.Â
Academically, Gingrich's efforts are just as impressive. He maintains a stellar 3.95 cumulative grade point average as he pursues a degree in mechanical engineering. Gingrich was a 2022-23 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree and will be a three-time Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll selection for the Blue Jays. He has also been a part of the team's academic success, earning USTFCCCA All-Academic Team over several years.
Dedicated to serving his community, Gingrich devoted his time from February 2022 to May 2022 to the Wheeled Shower Chair Community Project. This initiative involved extensive research, design, and construction of custom wheeled shower chairs for the Easterseals organization, showcasing Gingrich's commitment to making a meaningful impact beyond athletics and academics.
Currently, Gingrich is actively engaged with Clutch Catch II, contributing to the enhancement of a previous project focused on developing baseball-catching devices for hand amputees. In this capacity, he employs MATLAB Simscape models to analyze the stress and motion dynamics of the device, underscoring his dedication to innovation and inclusivity.
