Neidig, Wagner break women's track & field records at SU Tune-Up

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Seniors Mylea Neidig and Jarrett Wagner both set new Elizabethtown College women's track & field records on Saturday at the SU Tune-Up while also winning their events. The meet was not scored.

Wagner's record came first, in the 60m. She had the top qualifying time from the prelims at 8.07. Already the record holder, she'd blow her own record out by going sub-8.0 seconds in the final. Wagner won the 60 in 7.99 to become the first women's sprinter to break the eight-second barrier in the event. Her winning time was also an AARTFC qualifying time.

On her final attempt in the shot put and having already set a new PR on an earlier throw of 11.88m, Neidig threw nearly a whole meter farther on her sixth throw of the competition that was marked at 12.74m (41'9-3/4"). Her winning throw was nearly five feet better than second place. She was also ninth in the weight throw. Maura Bradney finished 10th in the weight throw.

Kate Bendall was a top three finisher on the track and in the field for Elizabethtown. Bendall ran a new personal best in the 60-meter hurdle final, 9.55, to take third. She was also third in the triple jump at 10.65m, also a PR. Bendall jumped 4.82m in the long jump to place fourth.

Caleigh Bold, who set the program's 200-meter record last week, ran 26.80 to finish third. Bold and Wagner were two legs of the 4x200m relay that was third. Melissa Patton and Trinity Faupel were also a part of the Jays' relay.

Axel Georgieff ran 1:05.93 in the 400m to place fourth.

The women's track & field team will compete at the Landmark Indoor Championships next Saturday back at Susquehanna.
