Wrestling Finishes Fifth at Racich Rumble

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa.—The Elizabethtown wrestling team had four wrestlers place on Saturday at the Racich Rumble hosted by Ursinus College. The Blue Jays finished five out of 15 teams with 88 points. Will Davis was the lone top finisher for Etown taking first in his weight class.

Will Davis had a bye to open up the 197 bracket before winning by fall against Ursinus' Jake Gross. In the quarterfinals Davis took down York's Owen Dixon, 17-1 (2:24) by tech fall. Davis also won by 17-1 (3:52) by tech fall against Nicolas LeSieur of WPI. In the finals match, he defeated Simeon Hune from Misericordia 17-1 (2:56) via a tech fall.

Ganon Smith had a bye to open up the 184 bracket before taking down Mark Dickey of NYU in his first match with a  8-1 fall. His 14-1 fall over Anthony Mayers from Cortland put him in the semifinals. Smith won 5-2 by decision in the semifinals as he defeated Ryder Slayton of Messiah. In the final match, Smith fell 11-2 by major decision to Trent Furman of NYU.

At 165, Justice Hockenberry won 6-5 by decision against Stevens Tech, Jack Bailey. In the round of 16, he won 15-0 by tech fall against Maxim Kochergin from Cortland. In the quarterfinal match, Hockenberry dropped the match 10-9 by fall to Killian Foy from NYU. Hockenberry  took third place in his weight class.

At 285, Ksawery Niewiadomy took fifth place in his bracket.
