WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Elizabethtown College men's soccer team was down 2-0 in the second half and managed to answer, but couldn't overcome that deficit as they bowed out of postseason play thanks to a 2-1 loss at Catholic.
Liam Giblin gave the Cardinals the first-half lead in the 29th minute with his first of the season. They led by a goal at the half as CATHU held Elizabethtown to just two first-half shots.
Catholic added to their advantage a little over five minutes into the second half.
Hudson Peck touched a ball over to
AJ Sasso at the top of the 18. The freshman took a touch to evade a defender and in one quick motion, sent a shot far post for his fourth of the year, tied for the team lead. That brought one back for the Blue Jays in the 59th minute, less than 10 after the Cardinals' goal.
Etown sent players forward, but weren't able to finish off another opportunity.
Pedro Miranda made a one-handed save with 25 minutes to go in the second half as Catholic looked to ice the game. Miranda finished the night with five saves.
