TOWSON, Md.-- The Elizabethtown men's swim team opened up their weekend with two dominating wins as they defeated Goucher and Immaculata in a tri-meet. Etown defeated Goucher 197-49 and Immaculata 190-55.
Elizabethtown won ten events on their way to their first dual meet wins of the season. Starting off for the men the team of
Leif Hoffman,
Connor Oswald,
AJ West, and
Austin Smith claimed first clocking in at 1:44.11. Hoffman led way to stat off the individual events with a first place finish in the 1000 free followed by
Josh McQueen in second. The Blue Jays took the top three spots in the 50 breaststroke with Oswald leading the way with a time of 28.53.
In the 50 free,
Austin Smith clocked in at 23.46 and
Marco Niosi and
Andy Hoch followed in second and third; respectively. West grabbed first in the 100 free coming in with a time of 50.66. Hoffman claimed first in the 100 back clocking in at 58.19 about two second ahead of the second place finisher. Etown again went 1-2-3 as
Barron Bishop led the way in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.21.
Garren McKenzie finished second while
Hunter Kuffa took third.
In the 500 free, Hoffman claimed his second individual first place finish with a time of 5:14.29 while
Robert Midura finished third clocking in a 5:26.97. In the 50 fly, West finished first followed by teammate Oswald in second. In the 200 IM, Etown took second and third places. Kuffa (2:15.41) finished second while
Michael Tittermary (2:24.12) finished third. Etown won the final event of the 200 free relay with the team of Niosi, Tittermary, Bishop, and West.
Etown faces Susquehanna in their first home meet of the season tomorrow at 2 pm.
