ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College wrestling team hosted two tournaments this season and after Saturday's Ken Ober Memorial Tournament has won them both. The Blue Jays had 12 wrestlers reach the podium in every weight class but one as they amassed 160 points to win the tournament title.
Brian Schneider,
Ganon Smith and
Will Davis each won their weight classes for Etown.
Schneider made pretty quick work of Liam Strouse in the 165-pound championship, pinning the junior from RIT in 2:35. Schneider also won at the Blue Jay Classic.
Smith and Davis each had to work for their titles at 174 and 184. Smith won a close 3-1 decision over Roanoke's Kyle Lee while Davis outlasted Zach Swyers of RIT in a 4-1 decision.
Ethan Liptzin (125) and
Dylan Waller (285) were each the runner-up for the Blue Jays.
Braden Schuyler was a third-place match winner for Etown.
Deven Jackson and
Kurt Driscoll both finished fourth for the Jays while
Anthony Vitola Jr.,
Scotty Reagan,
Shane Strausser and
Gavin Fehr won their final matches of the day in the fifth-place matchups.
Elizabethtown will host Alvernia next Saturday, February 3, for Alumni Day at the Bowers Center at 1 p.m.
