Men's Swimming Opens 2024 with Dominant Performance over Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown men's swim team opened up 2024 after a week of training in Florida with a 165-37 win over Lebanon Valley, Friday afternoon. The Blue Jays were dominant in the pool as they claimed first place in every single event.

In the first event the team of Dylan Fitzgerald, Connor Oswald, AJ West, and Garren McKenzie touched the wall with a time of 1:57.23 in the 200m medley relay. In the 800m freestyle, Leif Hoffman paced with a time of 9:24.41 while Alex Waskiewicz and Andrew Hoch followed in second and third. Joshua McQueen finished first in the 200m freestyle coming in with a time of 2:11.28 while Jack Venza took second with a time of 2:19.96.

In the 50m freestyle, West clocked in at 26.47 while Oswald finished second with a time of 27.02. Hunter Kuffa claimed first in the 200m IM touching the wall at 2:32.10 and McKenzie finished in third place. The Blue Jays took the top three spots in the 100m butterfly as Austin Smith led with a time of 1:00.91 and Hoffman and Hoch followed.

In the 100m freestyle, Liam Quick finished first coming in with a time of 1:01.59 and Venza took second with a time of 1:01.85. In the 100m backstroke, Fitzgerald claimed first with a time of 1:05.93. The 400m freestyle was led by McQueen as he clocked at 4:45.55 while Robert Midura followed with a time of 4:51.46. Again Etown took the top three spots as A. Smith led the 100m breaststroke. McKenzie and Matthew Smith finished in second and third place in the event. The team of A. Smith, Fitzgerald, Oswald, and West finished first in the 200m freestyle relay with a time of 1:46.97.

The Blue Jays return home tomorrow to face Scranton at 1PM in Landmark Conference action.
