ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Down a goal, the Elizabethtown College women's soccer team rattled off three unanswered in Saturday's 3-2 win over Lebanon Valley to make it a successful Senior Day as they celebrated their four seniors in a pregame ceremony. Three different Blue Jays recorded their first goals of the season in the victory.
Lebanon Valley (0-1-1) scored in the first ten minutes as Delaynie Reyes made it 1-0 in the eighth minute.
It didn't take Elizabethtown (1-2-0) too long to respond and it was a pair of seniors, along with the help of a sophomore, that helped level the match at 1-1.
Olivia Herbert crossed in the ball that was headed on by
Maddie McWhinney and finished off
Sydney Reich in the 15th minute to tie the game.
Less than 12 minutes later, Etown found itself in the lead after
Ava Whisten's first of the season came on an assist from Jenna Hoffman in the 27th minute. The Jay, who outshot LVC 5-2 in the first half, led 2-1 at the break.
Hoffmann added an insurance goal in the 63rd minute, a goal the Blue Jays would end up needing as the Dutchmen got one back in the 69th minute.
Etown was able to make the 3-2 scoreline hold up as they earned their first win of the season in the opening game at Herr Field.
The Blue Jays will host Gettysburg on Wednesday, September 13, at 7 p.m.
