ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The former Blue Jays got the better of the current Elizabethtown College women's cross country team on Saturday at the Blue Jay Alumni Challenge. The alums took the head-to-head race 21-36.
The alumni placed four of the first five runners, including meet winner Eileen Cody '14. Cody ran 16:21.2 to take the race and was the only runner to go sub-17:00.
Kelty Oaster added another top 10 to her name, finishing as the runner-up in 17:34.1. Newly appointed Associate Head Coach of Cross Country and Track & Field,
Maria Anderson '18, took third for the alumni team. Ashley Underkofler Baldwin '15 was fourth and Emily Nelson '19 placed fifth.
Amanda Kauffman took sixth for Etown in 19:22.6 with
Isabelle Smith behind her in seventh (19:30.0). Colleen Kernan '19 was eighth for the alumni and their final scorer in the meet to put their total at 21.
Maeve Keefe was ninth for the Jays and
Ellie Heilman placed 12th to give Elizabethtown its final score of 36.
The women's team will have this coming weekend off before heading to Dickinson on Saturday, September 23 for the Long/Short Invitational.
