Men's cross country denies alumni team repeat

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- A year after the alumni won the Blue Jay Alumni Challenge for the first time, the Elizabethtown College men's cross country team made sure it wasn't a repeat. The current Blue Jays took down the former Blue Jays in their head-to-head race, 21-40.

Samuel Gerstenbacher '20 won the meet for the alums in 13:53.2, who only had two in the top 10 in the race. Recent graduate, Devon Soto '23, was sixth for EC alumni.

Brandon Baxter led the current crop of Jays with a runner-up finish in 14:32.7. He was tailed closely by Matt Fick in third at 14:32.8. Dan Myers took fourth in 14:35.6 and Nolan Pettit was fifth in 15:01.6

Derek Kendig rounded out the scoring for Elizabethtown, in seventh, at 15:02.5.

The men's team will have off this coming weekend and will be back in action on Saturday, September 23, at Dickinson's Long/Short Invitational.
