TOWSON, Md. -- Jalen Belgrave is the second student-athlete from Elizabethtown College to be named the Landmark Conference's Male Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year. Belgrave was the sixth member of the men's track & field program to be named a senior scholar athlete in the conference after earning the honor for the 2023 outdoor season. Christian Schaaf was the 2021-22 Landmark Male Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Belgrave made his mark at the College and in the conference academically, athletically and from a service standpoint.
On the track, he was a four-time All-Landmark Conference honoree, three First Team and one Second Team. Belgrave was also a two-year captain for the Blue Jays and a leg of the sixth-fastest 4x100-meter relay in team history.
A legal studies major, the Annapolis, Md. native was a three-time Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll selection and was named to the Elizabethtown Dean's List every semester. Belgrave was also named to the United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team and College Sports Communicators Academic All-District in 2022-23.
Belgrave's activities on the campus of Elizabethtown are just as impressive as his athletic and academic abilities. He was the Founder and President of the Elizabethtown College NAACP (2020-23), the Founder and Program Director for the College's Social and Civil Leadership Academy (2022-23), and a member of the Student Senate and Diversity Board. He additionally served as the Co-Captain of the Etown Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Belgrave, who was selected as an Elizabethtown College Emergent Scholar, was also named the Blue Jay Athletic Association Male Distinguished Student-Athlete award winner this past year. Going forward, Belgrave has committed to UPenn to pursue a Masters in Science (Social Policy & Practice Program).
