BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Seniors
Jocelynn Itterly and
Trinity Soto each set a new school record while Soto and
Erin Miller both won gold for the Elizabethtown College women's track & field team over the weekend at the Landmark Outdoor Championships, hosted by Moravian University. The Blue Jays were fifth out of seven teams with 85 points and six medals won. Itterly also set a new championship record for Etown in the high jump.
Soto and Miller won their golds for Elizabethtown on Saturday and both for the third time in their events. Miller defended her back-to-back javelin crowns with another for the Jays, going 38.47m (126'2") for the win.
Maura Bradney took eighth at 29.86m (97'11").
For the third outdoor championship meet in a row, Soto took the discus title and did so by breaking her own school record. Her winning throw was 40.40m (132'6").
DaniRae Renno, who placed in all three of her throwing events over the weekend, earned bronze at 36.94m (121'2').
Mylea Neidig also joined the podium for Etown after she placed sixth at 34.22m (112'3").
Renno added a pair of sixth-place finishes on Sunday in the hammer and shot put. She set a new personal best in the hammer at 39.16m (128'5") to move from tenth to seven on the all-time list. The sophomore made it two-for-two on the day with a second PR in the shot put, hitting 10.89m (35'8-3/4") to shift from tenth to eighth in program history. Neidig was fourth in the shot at 11.14m.
Laura Cardona ran three hurdles races this weekend and set personal bests in each. First, she qualified for the 100m hurdle final on Saturday with a 16.35 in the prelims, improving her fourth-place time in school history. In Sunday's final, she broke 16 seconds and ran 15.85 to place fifth overall and once again dropped her time, which remains fourth all-time. On Sunday, the senior won her second straight silver in the 400m hurdles, finishing in 1:06.20 to improve her second-place time in program history.
Itterly closed out her final conference championship meet with a bang as she finished in a three-way tie in the high jump. She cleared 1.64m (5'4-1/2") to set a new Elizabethtown record as well as a Landmark Championship record. Via tiebreakers in the event, Itterly wound up third.
Melissa Fitzgibbon also earned a medal for the Jays as she was third in the 5,000m. She was also fifth in the steeplechase earlier on Sunday.
Amanda Kauffman finished fourth in the 10k while
Madison Webber was sixth.
Axel Georgieff took eighth in the pole vault.
The 4x4x00m relay was fifth and the 4x100m placed sixth.
Soto and Miller earned All-Landmark First Team honors for the gold medal winning performances. Cardona gets All-Landmark Second Team in the 400m hurdles.
