Holland Jr. ties championship record, sweeps 100m and 200m as men's track & field takes fourth

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Junior Myron Holland Jr. tied a Landmark Outdoor Championship record and swept the 100m and 200m dashes for the second straight year as the Elizabethtown College men's track & field team took fourth at the Outdoor Championships hosted by Moravian University this weekend. The Blue Jays won 10 medals and had six all-conference performances in total. Holland was named Men's Co-Track Athlete of the Meet along with Elliott Davis of Susquehanna.

Holland had no issues qualifying for the finals in either the 100m or 200m on Saturday in the preliminaries. He ran 10.75 in the 100 and 22.27 in the 200 to earn his way back to the final to defend his titles in each. Sure enough, on Sunday, the Urbana graduate did just that. First, he blazed a 10.56 in the 100m final to tie the Landmark Championship record, just .02 off his own school record, to win gold. Later in the meet, he ran a sub-22 for the first time in the 200, going 21.99 to complete the sweep and get his second gold of the day.

Elizabethtown had four runners-up during the weekend, all coming on Saturday thanks to Logan Miller in the pole vault, Zachary Kardos in the javelin, Daniel Myers in the 1500m and Christian Gingrich in the 10,000m to cap off the first day. Each athlete earned All-Landmark Second Team honors for their performances in their events.

Matt Fick finished a spot behind Gingrich in the 10k to earn bronze Saturday evening. Myers won another medal for the Jays, this one coming on Sunday in the first track event of the meet. Myers was third in the steeplechase. Malik Hudges was the top high jumper for Etown, tying his personal best of 1.91m (6'3-1/4") to take third. The 4x100m relay of Simon Burleson, Holland, Jalen Belgrave and Evan Schwab was also third.

Aspen Stahl-Emig threw 47.74m (156'7") in the javelin on Saturday to take fourth. His throw is the ninth-best in school history. Collin Wolf also set a new personal best, his in the 400m hurdles, taking a chunk off his previous best time to run a 56.93 in Sunday's final. He was fifth overall and moved from eighth to sixth in program history.

Also helping toward the Blue Jays' point total this weekend were Andrew Reice in the 800m (5th), Brandon Baxter in the 1500m (4th), Devon Soto (4th) and Nolan Pettit (5th) in the steeplechase, Ethan Vallone in the high jump (T4th), Keagan Kinney in the pole vault (6th), Xavier Hall in the triple jump (6th), Colby Schalek in the javelin (7th), and the 4x400m relay (6th).
