SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Junior
Erin Miller medaled for the Elizabethtown College women's track & field team at the two-day AARTFC Outdoor Championships held at Susquehanna University. The Blue Jays had three athletes place at the meet as they finished 27th with 10.5 points.
Miller increased her mark each of her first three attempts in the preliminaries of the javelin on Wednesday, and then after advancing to the final, she uncorked a throw of 43.42m (142'5"), a season and career-best. Her throw moved up her up to second and that was where she'd finish for Elizabethtown. She has been the fifth-place finisher the last two years in the jav at the regional championship meet. Miller also shifts from fourth to second all-time and is now inside the top 10 in NCAA Div. III.
Trinity Soto made the final in the discus for the Blue Jays, the second straight AARTFC Outdoor Championship she's done so. The senior managed an eighth-place with her mark of 40.09m (131'6").
DaniRae Renno was 10th at 38.79m (127'3"), a new personal best that improves her second-place standing all-time.
The remaining points for Etown came from
Jocelynn Itterly in the high jump. In her final go in the event, the school's record holder cleared 1.55m (5'1") to tie for seventh. It is the second straight outdoor regional championship meet Itterly has placed at for EC. She was seventh overall in the high jump last outdoor season.
The Blue Jays will now await the national qualifiers announcement on May 19.
