Hudges soars, Holland Jr. flies, Kardos launches Blue Jays to top 20 finish at AARTFC Outdoor Championships

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Myron Holland Jr. and Malik Hudges medaled for the Elizabethtown College men's track & field team while Zachary Kardos also placed for the Blue Jays, who finished in a tie for 17th at the AARTFC Outdoor Championships with 19 points.

Kardos kickstarted the scoring for Elizabethtown on Wednesday in the javelin. Looking to improve on his best mark, Kardos did just that as he launched his farthest throw of the event 56.53m (185'5") to set a new personal best and improve his third-place standing on the school's all-time list. It also landed Kardos fourth place in the competition.

In Thursday's high jump, Hudges cleared his first three heights on the first attempt, including his new personal best of 1.96m (6'5"), which took him from sixth to second all-time. Hudges was one of only six jumpers to clear the height and offered the opportunity at 2.01m to break the program history. Although he was unable to do just that, Hudges wound up third overall to take the bronze for Etown.

On the track, Holland Jr. had the fourth-fastest qualifying time in the 100m in Wednesday's prelims. He came back on Thursday to run 10.63 in the final and take silver for the Jays. Holland improved on his finish from last year's regional meet where he was fifth.

Collin Wolf improved his 400-meter hurdle time down to 56.88, which also improved his sixth-place standing on the all-time list. Xavier Hall also set a new personal best for the Blue Jays on Thursday in the triple jump. Hall reached 13.25m (43'5-3/4") after initially setting a new PR on his first jump (13.03m), then tying the PR on the second before resetting them both to 13.25m. His mark takes him from sixth to fifth in program history.

Elizabethtown will now await the national qualifiers announcement to be released tomorrow, May 19.
