YORK, Pa. -- In the third-to-last event of the night, the 4x800-meter took home the win for the Elizabethtown College men's track & field team on Wednesday at the York College (Pa.) Twilight Meet. A trio of high jumpers all set new personal bests to either make or improve their standing on the program's top 10 list. The meet was not scored.
The combination of
Andrew Reice,
Daniel Myers,
Collin Wolf and
Brandon Baxter won the 4x800m relay in 8:01.29, giving Elizabethtown its lone event win of the meet. Reice, Myers, and Baxter were all in the top ten in the open 800m earlier in the meet. Reice cracked the 2:00 mark for the first time in his Etown career after charging home down the homestretch, finishing strong for a third-place finish in 1:58.55.
Daniel Myers was sixth overall in 1:59.45 and Baxter was eighth at 1:59.47.
Ethan Vallone led the high jump group after he cleared 1.95m (6'4-3/4") to take second overall and tie for second on Elizabethtown's all-time list.
Lucas Maggipinto finished fourth at 1.90m (6'2-3/4") and moved up from a tie for ninth to a tie for sixth in program history.
Malik Hudges also set a season-best at York. He cleared 1.85m (6'0-3/4") to take sixth and tie for ninth all-time.
Evan Schwab took fourth in the 200m,
Christian Gingrich was fifth in the 5,000m,
Matt Fick was eighth in the 5k, and
Myron Holland Jr. took ninth in the 400m. The 4x100m finished fifth while the 4x400m was eighth.
Zachary Kardos threw 50.98m in the javelin to place fifth.
Colby Schalek was eighth at 43.91m.
The men's track & field team will compete at both the Messiah Invitational (Fri. 4/14 & Sat. 4/15) and Bucknell Outdoor Classic (Sat. 4/15 & Sun. 4/16).
