GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- It was a matter of time before the nearly 16-year-old 4x100m relay record went down, and on Saturday at the Mason-Dixon Invitational, that's exactly what happened.
Simon Burleson,
Myron Holland Jr.,
Matt Lamb, and
Evan Schwab combined to break the school record as the Elizabethtown College men's track & field team took fifth at Gettysburg in a weather-shortened meet.
A record that has stood since the 2007 MAC Outdoor Championships finally fell as Burleson, Holland, Lamb, and Schwab ran 42.25 to establish the new school record in the 4x100m relay.
Ethan Vallone tied for first in the high jump at 1.77m while
Malik Hudges tied for fourth and
Xavier Hall finished 10th.
Logan Miller and
Jordan Figueroa went two-three in the pole vault. Miller cleared 4.00m and Figueroa was safely over 3.85m for the Jays.
Keagan Kinney took sixth and
Avery Roberts tied for ninth.
Aspen Stahl-Emig set a new personal best in the hammer throw. His best mark Saturday was measured at 40.41m (132'7"), which improved his seventh-place standing on the school's all-time list.
Elizabethtown will host the Blue Jay Tune-Up this coming Friday & Saturday at home while also having athletes competing at this coming week's Penn Relays.
