Softball falls to Catholic, second game canceled due to weather

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Elizabethtown College softball team fell in game one at Catholic before game two was called due to weather.

Game 1: Catholic 4, Elizabethtown 1
Catholic (18-15, 5-5 Landmark) led 2-0 after three innings. The Blue Jays got on the board in the fifth thanks to Haley Nedo's RBI single to left field to score Cierra Kunkle. That cut the deficit to 2-1.

The Cardinals then scored twice in the bottom half of the inning to go ahead 4-1, the final margin of victory.

Nedo had two of Elizabethtown's (8-27, 0-10 Landmark) four hits in the game. Paige Phillips and Maddie Reever also recorded hits for the Jays.

The teams were able to start game two and get through four and one-third innings before weather became an issue. Catholic and Elizabethtown were unable to resume play on Saturday.

A decision was made that game two will not count as a regulation game and the Blue Jays will not return to Catholic to play the remainder of the game. For NCAA statistical purposes, the game is recorded as a "no contest", and for conference purposes, Catholic will receive a win and Elizabethtown will receive a loss.
