Men's track & field splits between Messiah, Bucknell

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Devon Soto had the top finish of the weekend for the Elizabethtown College men's track & field team. The Blue Jays competed at both the Messiah Invitational and the Bison Outdoor Classic. Etown finished 10th at Messiah as a team while the meet at Bucknell was not scored.

Soto was one of two Blue Jays to place in the top five in the 3,000m steeplechase on Saturday. The senior was second at 10:01.09 while Nolan Pettit was fifth at 10:18.67. Marty Ratchford placed fourth in the 5,000m, running 17:00.50.

Three high jumpers placed for Elizabethtown at Messiah. Ethan Vallone was fourth at 1.82m while Lucas Maggipinto and Malik Hudges tied for ninth at 1.77m.

Logan Miller and Jordan Figueroa gave the Jays a pair of place-finishers in the pole vault. Miller was fifth at 4.20m, a new PR that improves his eighth-place standing all-time, while Figueroa was seventh at 3.90m.

Colby Schalek was 10th in the javelin with a best mark of 45.88m.

At the Bison Outdoor Classic, Myron Holland Jr. was fifth in the 100m at 10.64. Zachary Kardos threw a new javelin PR of 56.27m (184'7") on Saturday to improve his third-place standing all-time and the 4x100m relay of Simon Burleson, Holland, Jalen Belgrave, and Evan Schwab ran 42.75 on Sunday to move from ninth to fifth in program history.

The men's track & field team will compete at the Mason-Dixon Invitational at Gettysburg on Saturday, April 22.
