AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- The Elizabethtown College softball team got its season started on Monday with their first day of spring break games. The Blue Jays won game one, 12-3 in six innings, over Wheaton (Ill.), but were upended in their second game of the day, 7-1, by Wentworth.
GAME ONE: ELIZABETHTOWN 12, WHEATON (ILL.) 3 (F/6)
There were plenty of hits and RBIs to go around for Etown in their first game of the season.
Brooke Huczko recorded her first career hit, home run, and RBI in the game while
Mikaela Benner got her first career win for the Jays.
Kristen Aydelotte also homered in the game for Elizabethtown.
GAME TWO: WENTWORTH 7, ELIZABETHTOWN 1
The Leopards pounced on the Jays right away, getting out to a 4-0 lead. Wentworth added runs in the second, third, and fifth innings to go up 7-0.
Maddie Reever singled in
Olivia Prosser to break up the shutout. Huczko,
Kadyn Crisswell,
Megan Thomas, and
Haley Nedo each had hits for the Jays in the game.
Elizabethtown will play Rivier in a doubleheader beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 9.
