Holland becomes second individual champion as Blue Jays compete at AARTFC Indoor Championships

NEW YORK CITY -- The Elizabethtown College track & field teams competed at the AARTFC Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Armory Track & Field Center in New York City. The men tied for 20th while the women tied for 37th. Myron Holland Jr. became the second individual event champion for the Blue Jays while Jocelynn Itterly placed in the high jump.

Holland qualified for the 60-meter final Friday evening with his 6.81 in the prelims, the second-fastest time in the field. In Saturday's final, Holland ran to victory in 6.88 to join Samuel Gerstenbacher as the only event champions for Elizabethtown. Holland currently ranks in a tie for 10th in Division III in the 60m dash (6.79)

Holland also competed in the 4x200m relay Saturday afternoon along with Jalen Belgrave, Simon Burleson, and Evan Schwab. The 2023 Landmark Indoor champions in the event ran 1:32.25 to lower their time and move from fifth to second all-time on the program's top 10 list. They were 11th overall at the championship meet.

Itterly moved up the program's all-time list once again. The senior cleared 1.60m (5'3") for the first time in her career, which earned her seventh at the championship meet and took her from a tie for fifth to a tie for third in school history.

Christian Gingrich ran Friday evening's 5,000m before competing against Saturday in the 3,000m. Gingrich ran 15:22.11 in the 5k to take 14th and 8:53.24 in the 3k, where he was 26th.

Brandon Baxter and Daniel Myers were the first to go for Etown on Saturday as both were mile entrants for the Jays. Myers ran a PR of 4:22.08 and finished 18th overall while Baxter hit 4:21.78 to place 16th.

Melissa Fitzgibbon ran 18:36.10 in Friday evening's 5,000m and took 18th.
