NEW YORK CITY -- Kelty Oaster had the top two finishes of the evening for the Elizabethtown College women's track & field team at the NYU DIII Invitational held at the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center in NYC. In all, 10 Blue Jays placed at the meet with four all-time performances, including two from
Laura Cardona.
Oaster took second in the mile with a 5:08.40, which moves her from eighth to fifth all-time. She was also third in the 800m at 2:22.05.
Cardona ran two PRs in the 60m hurdles. First, in prelims, she broke 10.0 seconds for the first time, running 9.88 to qualify for the final. In the final, she lowered her time to 9.82, improving her third-place standing on the team's all-time list. Cardona finished seventh overall.
In the weight throw invite,
Trinity Soto bumped up her personal best in the event to 11.99m. She was 10th.
Erin Miller was fifth in women's weight throw.
Maura Bradney and
Mylea Neidig also placed in the throws for the Jays. Neidig was seventh in the women's shot put while Bradney was ninth in the shot put invite.
Lucy Stern finished sixth in the triple jump at 9.56m and
Jocelynn Itterly was seventh in the high jump at 1.45m.
Maddy Eisenhart took fifth in the unseeded 60m dash and
Melissa Fitzgibbon was eighth in the 3,000m in 10:45.74.
Elizabethtown will have representation at both the Fastrack National Invitational in Staten Island, N.Y., and the Blue & White Invitational at F&M on Friday, February 10.
