Myron Holland Jr. at 2022 Landmark Indoor Championships

Men's track & field takes third behind Holland Jr.'s record-breaking day

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- As he has done all indoor season, Myron Holland Jr. broke his own school record in the 60m for the Elizabethtown College men's track & field team on Saturday at the 2023 Landmark Indoor Championships. Holland brought home three golds and was named the Men's Track Athlete of the Year for the Blue Jays. Etown took third with 116 points.

Not only did Holland break his own school record, he did it twice on the day. First, he lowered it to 6.88 in the 60m preliminaries, just shy of the conference record. Then, in the event final, Holland kicked it into another gear to run 6.79 to both break his own record, a second time, and the Landmark Conference record to win gold. He ran a leg of the winning 4x200m relay along with Jalen Belgrave, Simon Burleson, and Evan Schwab. Together, the Jays ran 1:32.73 to win by over a second with the program's fifth-fastest 800-meter relay of all-time. Holland finished out his day with a new PR in the 200m, taking gold in 22.50, now second all-time.

Holland was joined in the 60m final by Burleson, who took fourth in 7.22, which takes him from a tie for eighth to fifth all-time. Schwab finished fifth in the 200m at 23.13.

Christian Gingrich was a multi-time medalist for Elizabethtown as well on Saturday. Gingrich ran to gold in the 5,000-meter run in 15:24.97. The junior was back at it in the 3,000-meter later in the meet, where he took third in 9:06.35. Devon Soto was sixth in the 3k at 9:12.31.

Brandon Baxter had one of Etown's two silver medals at the meet. He ran 4:23.31 to place second in the mile while Daniel Myers was third in 4:24.98. Baxter was also fourth in the 800m at 2:01.00.

Matt Fick, Nick Harder, Andrew Reice, and Soto took second for the Jays in the distance medley relay at 10:50.52.

Logan Miller vaulted 4.10m in the pole vault to earn the bronze. Reice, Grant Kuhn, Baxter, and Schwab were third in the 4x400m relay.

Xavier Hall's mark of 12.75m, a new personal best, was good for fifth in the triple jump. He improves his seventh-place standing on the program's all-time list. Ethan Vallone took sixth in the high jump and Aspen Stahl-Emig was sixth in the weight throw with a new PR of 13.56m to take him from fifth to a tie for fourth all-time. Adam Carmo finished sixth in the 60m hurdles.
