Belgrave, Burleson run PRs, Holland Jr. wins three events for men's track & field

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- While his consecutive streak of breaking his own school record in the 60m was snapped, junior Myron Holland Jr. was still at this winning ways for the Elizabethtown College men's track & field team on Saturday at the SU Tune-Up. Holland won three events while Jalen Belgrave and Simon Burleson each set new PRs in the 60m.

Elizabethtown loaded the 60m final with half the field. Holland led the qualifying Blue Jays at 6.93, with Belgrave and Burleson each running 7.26, and Evan Schwab hitting 7.37. In the final, Holland was victoroius yet again in the event, running 6.94 to win it. Belgrave finished third, running a new career-best 7.24 to bump from a tie for eighth to fifth all-time. Burleson ran 7.26 for a second time at the meet and was fifth. His time moves him from a tie for eighth to a tie for sixth in program history. Schwab took seventh at 7.39.

Those four also ran the 4x200m and collectively they ran 1:34.22 to take first. Holland would also win the 200m in 22.96, becoming only the ninth athlete in program history to break 23.0. He moved from tenth to ninth all-time. Schwab wasn't far behind in second at 23.13.

Lucas Maggipinto and Ethan Vallone both placed in the high jump. Maggipinto was second and Vallone fifth, both having cleared 1.81m. Xavier Hall finished fifth in the triple jump at 12.00m.

Adam Carmo ran 9.04 in the prelims and 8.92 in the final of the 60m hurdles to take fourth.

Chase Wargo was eighth in the 5k while Marty Ratchford was tenth. Collin Wolf took ninth in the 800m with Andrew Reice placing tenth. Matt Fick was also tenth in the mile.

The men's track & field team will compete next Saturday, February 25, back at Susquehanna for the 2023 Landmark Indoor Championships.
