GRANTHAM, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College wrestling team closed out their dual schedule Friday night with a commanding win at Messiah. The Blue Jays won seven of 10 weight class bouts for an easy 28-9 win over the Falcons.
Prior to the start of the dual, Elizabethtown (10-6) and Messiah wrestled three exhibition matches. Two went to the Falcons, while
Jimmy Yeingst picked up the win via an 8-2 decision over Christian Conner at 285.
Ethan Liptzin earned his third major decision of the season with a 9-0 blanking of Caiden Heller at 125. Etown led 7-0, then, after
Scotty Reagan held off Asa Brunk by decision, 9-7.
Messiah earned three points with a decision at 141 before the Blue Jays rattled off four consecutive victories, starting with
Shane Strausser's 8-5 decision over Noah Rice at 149.
Dorian Gonzalez also won by decision, 10-9, as Elizabethtown extended their lead.
Brian Schneider remained perfect when it came to matches decided by pinfall. The senior recorded his seventh fall of the season (7-0) at 3:37 and 26th win overall, which is tied for the team lead with
Dylan Waller and
Ganon Smith.
Smith won handily at 174, an 8-1 decision over John Sumner.
Waller capped off the impressive and dominating night for the Blue Jays with a pinfall in just 55 seconds, his seventh win via pinfall this year.
The wrestlers will gear up for the Futures Mid East Tournament next Sunday, February 19, at Muhlenberg College.
