Six Blue Jays earn all-conference men's soccer honors

TOWSON, Md. -- The Elizabethtown College men's soccer team had six players earn All-Landmark Conference honors for the 2023 season. The conference announced its teams and major award winners on Wednesday.

Elizabethtown, a quarterfinalist after finishing third in the league this fall, had a pair of First Team honorees along with four Honorable Mentions in the Landmark.

Pedro Guizardi led the team in goals, points, shots and game-winning goals. The junior set a new single-season career-high with his eight goals and 20 points. His four assists tied his career-high. Guizardi scored twice at Alvernia back in September and had a season-high four points (1g, 2a) in a conference win over Wilkes on Homecoming. He was also fourth in the Landmark in goals, points and shots. Guizardi was named all-conference for the third consecutive year and second straight time as a First Team midfielder.

Thomas Smith was once again a defensive force for the Blue Jays along the backline. Smith was counted upon to win his aerial battles and direct the players around him on the field. He also added to his game, putting up a goal and three assists this season. The first goal of his career was an important one as Etown used it to beat Drew on the road, 1-0. A Second Team choice a season ago as a freshman, Smith was voted a First Team selection this season.

The Jays added an Honorable Mention at each level as Pedro Vinent (forward), Mehluko Letsoalo (midfield), Nikos Gousios (defense) and Kelvin Del Cid (goalkeeper) earned these honors for Elizabethtown. Vinent recorded three goals and two assists up top, Letsoalo added a pair of goals and a pair of assists, Gousios stood out in his first year for the Jays and scored his first collegiate goal while Del Cid wrapped up an impressive career in goal for EC with 52 saves and five shutouts.
