SCRANTON, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team saw its season come to an end Thursday night in the Landmark Conference semifinals. The Royals advanced to Saturday's championship game with a 5-1 win over the Blue Jays.
Scranton (11-3-3) got out to a 3-0 lead in the first half with goals in the second, 13th, and 24th minutes. The Royals held a 10-0 advantage in shots through 45 minutes as they put the clamps on the Etown attack.
The top-seeded Royals made it 4-0 in the 73rd minute before senior
Maddie McWhinney scored her sixth of the season in the 83rd minute to get the Jays on the board. McWhinney's goal made it seven straight games with at least a point to finish out her final season. All six of her goals this season came in the final seven games.
Adrienne McGallicher made six saves in nearly 83 minutes.
Rena Rankin came on for the final seven for Elizabethtown (6-9-3).
