Oaster cruises to top 5 and all-region finish

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- Senior Kelty Oaster became a three-time all-region performer for the Elizabethtown College women's cross country on Saturday at the NCAA Div. III Mid-Atlantic Regional. Oaster placed fifth overall with a huge personal best 6k time as the Blue Jays were 13th of 28.

The Landmark champion kept her racing momentum going into Saturday's race. She sat outside the top 10 with 2,000 meters to go, but worked her way up near race's end and by the finish line was fifth. It is the highest finish for Etown since Traci Tempone took fifth in 2011. Oaster's time of 21:26.9 is more than a minute faster than her previous PR and is the fastest time run at a regional meet since Erin Fisher's 2007 run of 21:18 that saw her crowned regional champion.

Amanda Kauffman, one of four Blue Jays with personal bests in the race, ran 22:48.8 to drop significant time off her 6,000-meter personal best as well. She was 42nd overall.

Bridget Kennedy turned in a season-best time of 23:55.2 to place 81st. Isabell Anderson also ran a PR, hitting 24:23.1 to take 99th. Isabelle Smith's 25:01.3 was also a personal best.
