Men's Swimming Drops First Meet of the Season at Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown men's swim team dropped a tough meet at Arcadia Friday evening as the Blue Jays move to 4-1 overall on the season. 

In the first event of the evening, the team of Franky Swain, Connor Oswald, Austin Smith, and AJ West came in second in the 200 medley relay. The team clocked in at 1:41.73 just about one second behind first place Arcadia. Leif Hoffman took the top spot in the 1000 freestyle as he touched the wall at 10:28.31. In the 100 backstroke the Blue Jays finished in the top two spots. Swain finished with a time of 58.33 while Dylan Fitzgerald followed with a time of 59.55. 

In the 100 breaststroke, Oswald grabbed a second place finish clocking in at 1:06.04. Hoffman claimed another first place as he came in with a time of 2:04.45 in the 200 butterfly which was two seconds ahead of the second place finisher. West finished third in the event with a time of 2:07.56. In the 50 freestyle, Smith finished third, Liam Quick took fifth and Nicholas Iraca finished sixth. Smith finished second in the 100 freestyle just out touching third place with a time of 52.43. 

In the 200 backstroke, Fitzgerald finished second coming in with a time of 2:08.85. In the 200 breaststroke, Oswald (2:30.88) finished second while Iraca (2:38.82) finished third. West claimed second in the 100 butterfly touching the wall at 54.91. Hoffman added his third first place finish of the night as he clocked in at 4:31.59 in the 400 IM. 

Elizabethtown returns home tomorrow, November 11 at 1PM as they host Lycoming.
