WESTMINSTER, Md. -- Though the Elizabethtown College wrestling team trailed early against McDaniel Wednesday afternoon, the Blue Jays quickly came back to take the lead and stayed in front as they took down the Green Terror, 29-14. Etown won six of the ten weight classes.
A defeat by decision at 125 had Elizabethtown (3-2) down 3-0, but tech falls from
Braden Schuyler and
Zach Rupp ushered the Blue Jays in front 10-3.
Three of the four matches that went to McDaniel (2-3) were decisions, while Etown had the pair of tech falls along with two decisions and two pinfall victories.
Dorian Gonzalez and
Brian Schneider each won their matchups, at 157 and 165 respectively, which made it 17-6 in favor of the Jays.
Ganon Smith pinned Avery Cummings at 174 and
Dylan Waller capped off the afternoon with a pinfall of his own in the heavyweight match against Austin Stewart in 22 seconds.
The wrestling team will take part in the Ursinus Manganaro Duals on Saturday, January 7.
