2023 INSIDE LACROSSE DIVISION III PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA TEAMS
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Inside Lacrosse released its 2023 Preseason All-America Teams on Thursday and the Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team had a familiar name on the list.
Connor Stewart became the fifth different preseason All-America selection for the Blue Jays. The junior was named as a Short Stick Defensive Midfield Honorable Mention.
Stewart's impact for Elizabethtown as a short stick defensive midfielder can not be understated. He ranked first among the Blue Jays' midfielders in ground balls and caused turnovers and was second overall on the team in both categories.Â
A 2021 All-Landmark Conference selection, Stewart continued his stellar play for Etown in 2022. He finished the season with 68 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers while also setting new career highs offensively with two goals and six assists. Both of Stewart's goals came in the Jays' Landmark Conference semifinal home win over Scranton on May 4.
A starter in all 18 games this past season, Stewart had at least one ground ball in every game last year and recorded at least one caused turnover in 14 of those 18 games.
He is the fourth different player to earn Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America honors and the first since goalie Tom Mahoney in 2020.
Elizabethtown opens the 2023 season on Wednesday, February 22, at Arcadia.
